University of Kansas – KU

[gn_spacer size=”10″][gn_dropcap style=”1″]I[/gn_dropcap]n the fall of 2013 a new Christian Challenge ministry was started at the University of Kansas. For a long time directors Ryan and Ginger Stelk had a passion for collegiate ministries, and the vision of disciple-making had captured their hearts. They had served on K-State staff with Christian Challenge for 10 years, but felt unsettled. “I wondered if God wanted us somewhere else, but we didn’t have a peace about another campus,” Ryan said. “We decided we needed to be faithful to walk with God at K-State.” If they moved, they wanted to go where there was a great need for laborers on the campus. When KU was presented as an opportunity, it fit the description. Read the Full Story in the Generations Newsletter

As a new campus ministry at KU, they are getting to know students and establishing the outreach. Just as the early church began by meeting together in people’s homes, so also are they beginning starting L.I.F.E. groups that study the Word of God, play games, eat meals, hang out, etc. They are from there building the larger community with larger fellowship meetings. Their overall goal is to raise up disciples who will in turn invest in others and live a life of discipleship and missional living.

KU Challenge’s Vision

We are here to infuse the world with life by training students to become people of GRACE who treasure Christ. Everything we do centers around this key vision.

As we infuse the world with life we want the world to know the life found in Christ. Our desire is to please God wherever we are and with whatever we do. Whether that’s here in Kansas or in China or as a doctor or a teacher, we would live to honor God.

We train students because our goal is much more than running a program or having activities; our goal is to equip this generation for a lifetime of serving Christ.

Finally we desire for our students to become people of GRACE who experience the gospel of grace, solidify loving and trusting relationships with God and with others, take action to advance God’s kingdom, grow more like Jesus in character and in lifestyle, and who put forth effort to make Jesus known.

G- Understand and experience the joy of God’s GRACE through Jesus
R- Solidifying a trusting and loving RELATIONSHIP with God and others
A- Grow in taking action to ADVANCE God’s Kingdom
C- Grow more like Jesus in CHARACTER and lifestyle
E – Put forth effort to know God and make him known

Missional Living

We firmly believe that each person has a role to play in making the name of Jesus known and are committed to helping students make His name known during and after college. During your time in college, we’ll offer you different opportunities to impact the world. Whether you’re going into education, construction, government, sciences, business, or anything else we hope that you will join with Jesus in the work He is doing wherever you are.

Taking the message of the gospel to the nations is close to our heart and to God’s as well. We will be sending teams all over the world to train students and to impact the nations. As you begin to walk with us, we hope you will begin to join with us in living missionally right now and for the rest of our lives!
